In exciting news, Bethany Lane (2022) has been selected to
the Women’s Tasmanian Tigers cricket XI.
Bethany’s selection followed the QLD Schoolgirls’
Championship XI, held September 2022, in which Bethany
represented NSW as a spin bowler and middle order batter.
This was followed by her selection to the NSW Premier Plus
competition, and the National Championships held in Perth
in December 2022, where Bethany opened the batting
(50 runs) in addition to her spin bowling which garnered
10 wickets, including one 4-wicket haul, placing Bethany in
the top ten wicket takers from around Australia during that
Championship. During her time at BMGS in our First XI,
Bethany also played for Penrith in their 1st XI.
Bethany caught the eye of the Tasmania selectors during this Championship and as a result, Bethany has signed
with the Tigers for the 2023/2024 season. This contract has superseded Bethany’s original plans to travel to
Europe and play cricket in England, however, it is still in her future plans to do so. Bethany has also deferred her
studies in Exercise Physiology at UNSW, and instead will be attending the University of Tasmania to undertake a
similar degree.
