Re: East Allen’s County’s Application for Indiana Regional Stellar Communities Designation
Dear Lieutenant Governor Crouch:
On behalf of Purdue Cooperative Extension Service – Allen County Extension Office, I would
like to express my support of East Allen’s application to receive designation as an Indiana
Regional Stellar Community. We are excited about the potential opportunities this program can
bring to East Allen County.
The Purdue Extension Service convened the officials of the city of Woodburn in East Allen and
the Office of Community and Rural Affairs which resulted in the funding for Main Street
projects. They have been in discussion with the New Allen Alliance on the need for community
leadership training for these communities. The New Allen Alliance also provided a letter of
support for the Purdue Extension Service budget appropriation for the addition of a community
development extension educator to focus on these community needs and initiatives.
The Purdue Extension Service can offer educational opportunities for the communities in East
Allen County – Beginner’s guide to grant writing, nutrition education, community leadership
training, money management, and programs to improve the quality of life of the community
members and make a difference in the county.
Sincerely,
Vickie J. Hadley, CFCS, CPFFE
