In an interview with Vogue Magazine in 2021, after her sold out III tour, BANKS
explained her next album Serpentina would be about breaking free of toxic
relationships, sending messages of empowerment to her fans. BANKS felt
Serpentina was an appropriate title as it’s symbolic to the way snakes sheds
their skin when they grow and evolve. Fans are right there beside BANKS,
sharing in her evolution as her lyrics encourage listeners to do the same.
