Now that their lineup was complete, there’s only
one piece missing…the band name. During their
first practice, they searched for a random word in a
website and found “Sarchasm.” Another band
name contender was “Anatidaephobia,” which was
suggested by Alex. The band then moved forward
with “Sarchasm,” which was described by the band
as “The gulf between the writer of ironic wit and the
reader who doesn’t get it,”

Sarchasm’s music influences are Green Day,
Nirvana, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, AFI, and
the Lookout! Record’s back-catalog. But it was
Green Day that really aligned them musically in the
beginning.
