“On The Side”
No two rappers are the same. What I’ve learned about music is that although an artist may
come from the same genre, in that genre is where you separate yourself and show your gold!
And in saying that, I had a chance to talk with and get to know up-and-coming rap artist the
amazing Mazen Ahmadi. What I learned about letting Mazen pick a spot for a shoot, is DON’T.
I left hungry and happy after our meeting. Our shoot was located at the Harambe Café, a local
420 friendly cafe hangout. Mazen was very courteous and polite, and I could see it in his eyes
just how passionate his art is to him. Our conversation via email and in person gave me a
greater personal understanding of his music. We shared stories and had some good laughs.
I truly enjoyed working with him on this interview and being a tiny part of his music journey.
