Marty Haviik: Hey there, Mazen! Thank you for
working with me on this interview. If you would,
please share with our readers who you are and what
you’re about.
Mazen Ahmadi: My name is Mazen Ahmadi, AKA
Amazen. I'm a recording artist based out of Tucson, AZ,
currently. I grew up in Pontiac, MI, and split time
between the Great Lakes and the desert during my early
years. I live my music, I love my music, and I genuinely
have love for everybody out here grinding and polishing
their craft.
MH: How long has music been a part of your life?
MA: Music has been with me since as long as I can
remember. My fondest memories involving music come
from hearing Sade playing through the house as a child
while my mother cleaned.
MH: When it comes to performing, what’s your
style?
MA: I love to engage with the crowd, find out how they're
feeling, and if we all are going to vibe for my few minutes
on the stage. Comedy is a passion of mine as well, so I
try and keep them laughing organically.
MH: In what way do you aim to make a difference
with your music?
MA: I want people to understand they can be
themselves. They can be vulnerable, honest, and brave.
Everybody isn't doing the same shit out here, so why try
and fit in with a particular crowd? Do you! Be proud of
YOUR art. Let the people find you but try and make
yourself available as much as possible.
