Alexisonfire: Sans Soleil

Alexisonfire (pronounced Alexis On Fire) was named after
American porn star Alexis Fire. Formed in 2001 after a three-

band break up, the five-member group founded in St.
Catherine’s, Ontario, consists of George Pettit (vocals and
keyboard), Dallas Green (vocals, guitar, and keyboard), Wade
MacNeil (guitar and vocals), Chris Steele (bass), and Jordan
Hastings (drums and percussion).

Judging from the band name, it’s clear to see they have a good
sense of humor. They once described their music in an
interview as, “the sounds of two Catholic high school girls in
mid-knife fight,” though ION Indie Magazine feels the sound is
much more refined and better categorized as melodic
hardcore, screamo, and post-hardcore.

Alexisonfire has released five full-length albums, most
recently, Otherness, in 2022. They broke up in 2013 and hinted
at a reunion in late 2019. The last time Alexisonfire was in
Boston, Massachusetts, was 14 years ago and fans could
barely contain their excitement. “I drove two and a half hours
just to see them!” a fan told ION Indie Magazine as the stage
was being set up.
