Billy’s guitar playing was typically slick raunchy distortion, carrying the show with a
series of laid-back leads. At one point, Billy and Elwood broke out the faux-fur
guitars. Pretty darn cool!
One of the night’s highlights was the unexpected cover of “Sixteen Tons,” a Merle
Travis song from 1946 about coal mining, later popularized by Tennessee Ernie
Ford, so I’ve read.
