ION Indie Magazine was delighted to be in attendance for the first night of his birthday

celebration in Boston, Massachusetts, at The Boch Center on April 2 . Formerly, The
Wang Theater, the restoration by a local philanthropist and fellow music lover, Ernie
Boch Jr., had partygoers “oohing” and “ahhhing” at the gleaming marble entryway and
restored murals adorning the high ceilings. Taking a seat in the theater, everyone felt
like royalty. Maynard sure knows how to throw a classy event!
Two large monitors book ending the sides of the stage sprang to life, showing a short
video. Maynard feigned old age in a hospital bed while hooked up to an oxygen tank
on a gurney. As the video played, a nurse, Carina Round, attended to Maynard, as he
mispronounced the names of his bands. “Come see the Complete Perfects,” before
the video cut out.
