TB: How did the group decide on the name Jack The Radio?
George: The band name came from a late night session with A.C. Hill and I writing any and
every band name idea we could think of on a sheet of paper. The next morning, we looked
back at our lists and crossed off a bunch of ideas and we both had Jack The Radio at the
top of our lists. It started as a call to action to create the music we wanted to hear on the
radio. Over the years, it’s morphed into a wayfaring cosmic cowboy skeleton character.
TB: You have a new album that came out (this article will appear in the ION Indie Magazine
July/August 2024 issue). What can you share about the album?
George: The new album is called Under Lonely Light and it’s something I spent the last
four years writing. A couple of those years, we were stuck at home due to lockdowns,
venues shutting their doors, and festivals and events postponing or canceling. That led to
a lot of introspection and deeper and sometimes darker lyrics, as well as moments of levity.
The album features ten original songs. Three of the songs were released on streaming
services in 2023, including Roads Paved In Gold, which was featured on No Depression
Magazine's ‘Best Of’ playlist and spins on WUNC Music, and Fast Fun, which gained
support from DittyTV and several stations, including rotation on That Station.
