Originally hailing from the great Pacific Northwest, Flaming Tortuga Records’ artist Scott
Southworth is an award-winning Nashville-based performing singer and songwriter, a 3-
time Top 30 charting recording artist in Europe, and the creator/co-host of radio and
television's "The Music Row Show.” As a writer, Scott has had over 70 independent cuts
and was named Country Music People Magazine's "Indie Songwriter of the Year for 2018.”
Singles from his most recent two CDs "The Last Honky Tonk In Town" and "Hey Hillbilly
Singer!" have seen chart success across Europe and radio play across the USA as well.
He is a 3-time AWA nominee for “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Pure Country Album of
the Year.” In March of 2019, Scott's album "Hey Hillbilly Singer!" was awarded the "Pure
Country Album of the Year" by the Academy of Western Artists and the "Horizon Award for
Country Album" by the NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International).
Scott performs regularly in Nashville at The Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner, and
Commodore Grill, as well as house concerts and many songwriting festivals around the
country and overseas, recently headlining festivals in France, Spain, Norway, and
Germany.
"These Old Bones" is his first release on new indie label Flaming Tortuga Records and
continues to raise the bar set by earlier releases "Hey Hillbilly Singer!" and "The Last
Honky Tonk In Town.” This project was produced in Nashville, TN, by Buddy Hyatt,
engineered by Grammy Award-winning Zach Allen, and features some of Music City's top
studio musicians, including Brent Mason, Mike Johnson, Mark Fain, Lonnie Wilson, and
more.
It is of great importance to note that Scott wrote or co-wrote every track on this album. I
feel this really is what makes an indie artist achieve longevity in the music business.
There's plenty of singers out there, but when you write your own songs, you know whereof
you sing. Scott is a master songwriter and knows how to deliver with some of the best
vocals I have heard in a long time.
From the opening track “Steel Guitars and Broken Hearts,” I am already confidant that this
album will give me my Honky Tonk fix for the day. The title says it all…a song about
heartbreak and plenty of steel guitar!
The first single pulled from the project, "Brown Liquor," which started as a songwriting
game of sorts with some of Scott's peers, infuses a bit of western swing with some Roger
Miller-type lyrics.
