2022 AGM feedback by the chairman
We recently held our AGM and I am able to report the following bullet points from the meeting.
We are in a slightly better financial position this year compared to the previous covid affected years. The
BSA is a not-for-profit association, staffed essentially by volunteers from the trade whom all have day
jobs to contend with. They give their time and expertise to the BSA and for that I wish extend my thanks
on behalf of all the members.
A key talking point within the meeting was that our association needs to represent the entire hot
beverage supply chain. With this being said, this has effectively been passed as a resolution and a stated
aim going forward
There was much discussion surrounding our goals for 2023 which has now been made clear:
We are to promote and act upon our message that we are a relevant voice for all operators. There will
be no elitism and we will celebrate good practice whether it is a cuppa in a great British cafe or a fine-
dining restaurant.
We plan to help our members with two of the largest intrinsically linked issues surrounding staff
recruitment, development and training. We plan to explore the use of job boards and walls of fame for
members to share and celebrate employee development and growth.
We will deepen and widen our collaborations and partnerships with other hospitality-led groups, sharing
our vision and leverage as a united voice for change on the issues that face our trade.
We will run networking activities and events as well as attend as exhibitors at relevant trade shows.
The BSA will distribute its new prospectus brochure to existing members and potential members.
Training will continue to grow and develop both in the UK and Internationally.
Our social media and support mechanisms and lobbying will increase up to government level.
We are committed to growing the membership base.
We will continue to develop our magazine to the benefit of the readership and trade.
This is not an exhaustive list and the BSA executive are resolved to provide realistic and tangible benefits
for our membership.
I thank you for your support in 2022 and look forward to an exciting 2023!
