When the brochure advertising this trip slid across my desk, Kay & I deliberated about

5 seconds before I was on the phone to the Audubon folks to sign us up. Why? The

truth is that the trip promised us 4 days on South Georgia Island in the SubAntarctic

without having to revisit the Antarctic Peninsula and cross the Drake Passage! South

Georgia is one of our favorite places in the entire world! As it turned out, there were

many other treasures to be discovered before reached that special place. AND, it

gave us the opportunity to join the maiden voyage of a brand new expedition ship

fresh out of its birth place in Germany.
