only a few feet away in the adjoining living room. At 5 o’clock in the afternoon, little
Gail and Donna were parked in front of the screen as the Mickey Mouse Club came on.
They watched the introduction of M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E and the roll call of Carol,
Bobby, Karen, Annette, and Cubby winding up with Roy and Jimmy the MC’s. They
would jump up to dance and sing during the program entertaining us grownups more
than the TV show. On Saturday nights, we watched Jackie Gleeson and Gunsmoke,
while Sunday nights we watched John Daly’s What’s My Line and Bert Parks’ Name
That Tune.
