P. 2
Acknowledgments
We would like to recognize the following individuals for their contributions to the creation
of this digital flipbook. Effie Maglaras (Greater Amsterdam School District) and Valerie
Smith (Schenectady City School District) spearheaded the project. Gladys
Schrynemakers (Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus) made the valuable
recommendation to produce it in digital flipbook format. Ida D’Ugo (Yonkers City School
District) and Reina Jovin (Roosevelt Union Free School District) helped to encourage
participation from all of our Smart Scholars ECHS partnerships, and also contributed
their ideas for the layout. We would also like to thank the SUNY College at Old
Westbury-Roosevelt UFSD partnership who funded the production of the digital
flipbook. Finally, we owe a special debt of gratitude to Reina Jovin and the Roosevelt
Union Free School District (Long Island) Smart Scholars team, who actually put this
document together for us. We greatly appreciate the time and talent that everyone has
contributed to this project.
All of the Smart Scholars Early College High School Programs featured in this
document are supported in whole, or in part, by a grant from the New York State
Education Department. In addition, the eleven programs that opened in 2010 have been
supported in whole, or in part, by a grant from the University of State of New York and
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
