4. Internal Test of portions: The internal tests of portions are conducted by making A. T.
Weld joints and testing of the same in lab for physical and chemical tests as per IRS-T-19-
2012. After satisfactory results, the batch of portions is offered for inspection of RDSO.
5. RDSO Inspection: Batch of portions is offered for inspection of RDSO, which conducts
inspection as per IRST-19-2012 (with up to date correction slips) with following
procedure-
i. One sample portion from each batch is selected randomly.
ii. A T Weld joint is prepared with this sample portion randomly selected.
iii. A T Weld joint is tested for physical properties i.e. (a) average hardness value, (b)
USFD Testing (c) Transverse load testing i.e. Breaking load and deflection.
iv. A T Weld joint is tested for chemical properties for percentage of carbon,
manganese, silicon, Sulphur, phosphorus, chromium, Aluminum and Molybdenum
by spectro analysis.
v. RDSO passed portions are issued to field units.
vi. Batches rejected by RDSO are disposed off in accordance with para 5.0 of IRS-T-
19-2012 or issued to TWTC for training purposes.
