When Iwasre-elected as General Community President, neither my colleaguesand Icould have possibly imagined
w h a t w a s t o c o m e . La st March, Coronavirustook the world completely by surprise. Since, a health and economic storm, the like of which hasnot occurred in a hundred years,hasgripped
money, spend money, and so on. The reality is that the General Community assessed the situation, established priorities and took decisive action to protect people?shealth, security and property.
I want to thank my colleagues, Ian Hunt, Kevin Lynch, Byron Baldwin, Bridgette Field, Paqui Jumilla, Rocio Manazanares, plus our administrator Angel Morenilla, for their support and the endless hours they put in throughout the pandemic. I must also thank the LMC doctors, Securitas, STV staff and the GC refuse collectors, who left their loved onesat home to come to work and protect La Manga Club owners.
Enough of looking back, it?s time to look forward. We are now in what has become known as the ?New Normality?, effectively life as per the ?Old Reality?, but with some essential health and
hygiene measuresin place until a vaccine or reliable treatment is found.
As I write, owners, renters, and visitors are returning to the Club, shops, bars, and restaurants are beginning to reopen, all welcome signs. Very importantly, the golf courses are open and week by week other facilities around the Club are coming back to life, all be it gradually and slowly.

There were no government plans, no corporate manuals, no instructional videos, that even remotely prepared us for what was to follow. The world had to get up to speed fast and deal with the challenge. La Manga Club and the General Community were no different. The result? There' hasnot been a single case of COVID-19 at the resort so far, no breaches of security, the refuse bins got emptied, and the lights stayed on.
