I love gorge and promote whenever I can. Some ideas: - refer a friend bonus, if you recruit new
member you get credit or discount on dues - promote lounge/restaurant and make improvements to
that area for better TV watching - have a wing night, maybe a Sunday funday - we have one of the
best patios in town and doesn't get used, invest in furniture and make it a welcoming area - allow
players to play in jeans, it is 2019
I strongly support the initiative to remove some of the bunkers on the golf course to save maintenance
fees and improve playability. If the course is to be more open to the public, I would suggest
identifying tee time trends during which there are often open slots and offering those up to the public
at a slightly reduced rate. 5 or 10 round punch cards may attract some players as well. Summer
evening nine holes combined with a F/B discount or a burger/beverage special may also attract some
business that would benefit all aspects of the course.
There wasn't a selection for "not close to work or home" for the Location question. Also no question
as to whether I will continue my membership.
Just perhaps considering allowing intermediate members to tee off a little before noon on weekends
during winter months/ daylight savings. When it gets dark at 4:30 it sometimes makes it difficult to
get a full 18 if we tee off after 12
VERY impressed by the outreach from the ladies group. I felt very welcome!
I feel like the initiation is a bit of a money grab and an aspect of the club that could be reviewed and
eliminated. It's hard enough to get people to join. The club is not elite and I think this aspect is a
hindrance to young people considering joining.
One idea on food and beverage minimums would be a reward system for those who spend more than
the minimum. A rewards program that for every dollar over the 600 spent the member would get an
amount credited back in the form of a coupon that could be used in the bar or restaurant. People would
spend more and the costs would not be that high to reward. A bit like a groupon. We need better
signage on the course which point green fee players to the next hole. Biggest complaint I have heard.
I think the intermediate memberships we have at the Gorge are unrivalled in value in Victoria, the
more we can get the word out about it to potential young members in town the better!
I would be very willing to further discuss what I find lacking or great at GV
Have food and beverage cart drive around
I think the same as many golf courses, keeping up with younger generations while maintaining the
values of golf is always a struggle. Especially as it relates to everything outside of the actual game.
(New members, social events, food and beverage, etc).
Love the course. Staff is fantastic and unpretentious. Some optics could improve (parking
lot/entrance, outside of clubhouse, etc)
We have the best Superintendent in Victoria we need to keep him .
Course maintenance is key. Club should consider white sand. Twilight members should have the same
reciprocal privileges and should be able to play 2 hours earlier during Nov. through March. Keep
monthly dues low unless making major changes/improvements like white sand. Gorge is awesome!
Hats off in the clubhouse is a dated tradition. Pro Shop should sell more GV gear, would definitely
buy. The lounge could be promoted better. One of the best patios in the city and is NEVER being
occupied. Promote more to the public. Have wing nights and happy hours etc.
The course is always fantastic, challenging and well kept. However the bunkers are always in horrible
shape, either sand, or mud or slop. They need to be fixed, it is not a unique part of the course, it is just
ridiculous. The clubhouse/snack shack is average at best - golf great/value great everything else not
great and could be improved
