JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON – (Aug.
5, 2021) Chief Navy Counselor Shayne Power, Oceanside, Calif.,
a division leading chief petty officer assigned to Navy Talent
Acquisition Group (NTAG) San Antonio, was awarded the Navy and
Marine Corps Achievement Medal by Cmdr. Michael Files, NTAG
commanding officer at NTAG headquarters. Power was awarded
the medal for his professional achievement during the month of June
2021. He demonstrated superb leadership and recruiting skills which
greatly contributed to Division 4 achieving an overall passing score
for all inspected Navy Recruiting Stations during a comprehensive
assessment by the Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit National
Inspection Team. Power, a 2005 graduate of Chaparral High School
in Temecula, Calif., joined America’s Navy in 2006 becoming a
recruiter in 2015. NTAG San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes
two Talent Acquisition Onboarding Centers (TAOC) which manage
more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting
Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and

tests aboard Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Charleston (LCS 18), July 27.
Charleston, part of Destroyer Squadron Seven, is on a rotational deployment operating in
the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operation to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as

ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 10, 2021) Operations Specialist 3rd Class Ashley
Pacheco tracks landing craft, air cushion positions using an amphibious assault
direction system in the combat information center aboard the Wasp-class
amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Aug. 10, 2021. Kearsarge is
underway to support Large Scale Exercise (LSE) 2021. LSE 2021 demonstrates
the Navy's ability to employ precise, lethal, and overwhelming force globally
across three naval component commands, five numbered fleets, and 17 time
zones. LSE 2021 merges live and synthetic training capabilities to create an
intense, robust training environment. It will connect high-fidelity training
and real-world operations, to build knowledge and skills needed in today's
