15.3 Distribution of Food Baskets
Fifty (50) food hampers, provided by Happi Products,
were distributed during the month of Ramadaan to needy
members in various parts of Trinidad.

15.4 Eid Centre
Originally a fifty-acre project in 2008, the Board
approved, in 2012, a scaled down version requiring only
10 acres of land. This project was revived in 2014 with the formation of a special
committee and preparation of a proposal. This new proposal was approved by the Board
and submitted to the Sugar Heritage Village Project headed by Prof. Brinsley Samaroo.
The proposal received written endorsements from Prof. Samaroo and the Trinidad
Muslim League (TML) and was subsequently submitted to then Prime Minister Kamla
Persad Bissessar in April 2014. By letter dated May 16th 2014, the Prime Minister
advised that she was awaiting feedback on the proposal from the Minister of National
Diversity and Social Integration, Mr. Rodger Samuel and Minister of Land and Marine
Resources, Mr. Jairam Seemungal. Again by letter dated November 3rd 2014, PM KPB
acknowledged receipt saying that the document was sent to the Minister of National
Diversity and Social Integration Rodger Samuel and the Minister of Land and Marine
Resources Jairam Seemungal. Subsequent to the then Government granting of lands to
another Muslim organization in 2015, the BOM decided to shelve this matter.
