JAMELLA A. JIHAD
Mrs. Jamella A. Jihad, a native of Atlanta has served the
community for over twenty-five years developing and
leading projects for Non-Profit Organizations. She is
Founder/President of The Halal Businesses, Inc., and
cofounder of The Halal Newsweek. Mrs. Jihad founded
Islamic Crisis Emergency Response System, Inc. (ICERS),
providing over 200 families with crisis housing, food
and clothing. In 2008, ICERS merged with SHARE-
Atlanta to continue its valuable work. Among her many
contributions are a virtual office to provide work-from-
home opportunity for mothers, the Imam Siraj Wahhaj
Production, LLC, the West End Summer Camp,
Ummie’s Place (children clothing store), Lady In The
Shoe, Inc and Muslims In Hip Hop, whose first show in
2003 made history! Mrs. Jihad also directed community
programs such as Drug & Crime Prevention Program for
Children & Youth and Children’s Task Force, for job
readiness to assist juveniles in Fulton and DeKalb
Counties. For her project, Teens of Georgia Temp
Services that help employ over 800 teens and adults,
Mrs. Jihad received a recognition award from The
Kellogg Foundation. She is a devoted wife of Imam Siraj
Wahhaj, a proud mother of six children and a
grandmother of thirteen grandchildren. Mrs. Jihad
enjoys gardening and writing non-fiction and fiction
stories, including The Summer of ’89 (2009) and Bury
Me As A Muslim (2018).
