FACILITIES
DEPARTMENT
The Oliver House grounds once again, Thankfully,
received free upkeep by the Master Gardener Group
led by Middleborough resident, Pat Balise. The
Master Gardeners had a staf of 22 volunteers and
donated 280 total hours to beautifying the Oliver
House grounds for the Town. Former senior workers
of Facilities dept. Ray Cabana and Heide Kilpatrick
became friendly with the gardener group and also
donated 30.5 hours of their personal time gardening
while not being oficial Master Gardener members.
Their service to this community is invaluable and I
Thank you all so much for your support.
In October, Selectboard member Tom White volunteered his
electrical expertise to wiring an underground feed to the
Town Hall lawn to host the Towns first annual, Christmas
Remembrance Tree Lighting sponsored through the Town
Managers ofice and Planning Dept. Selectmen White asked
me if I could help as the project required a lot of physical
labor to trench and install nearly 30 trees with dedicated
power outlets. I made a quick phone call to our friends at
Bristol Plymouth Electrical shop and immediately got a bus
load of electrical shop students to trench and wire and work
together with Mr. White. Bristol Plymouth remans an asset
to Facilities by continuing to work through the school year
on service calls and small projects for Town buildings at no
labor costs to the department. Thank you, Mr. Powers and
Bristol Plymouth.
Lastly, I’d like to welcome Gilmar Silva to the Facilities
Department. Gil worked in construction for 19 years before
becoming a school custodian for 4 years at St. Stanislaus
School. Gil brings a wealth a knowledge and positive
attitude and work ethic to the Town. Welcome Gil!
Those are just some of the year’s highlights that keep the
Facilities dept. very busy throughout the year along with
daily calls for service, repair and upkeep. I am very happy to
be involved in so many Town improvements that better and
beautify our community. Thank you,
