monitoring of public/semi-public swimming pools,
ponds, campgrounds and recreational camps continued
in 2024. In addition, this department responded to
complaints, 4 septic complaints, 11 food related

ANIMAL INSPECTOR
The following is the 2024 year end report of Animal
Inspector activities for the Town of Middleborough:
January 1st 2024 through December 30st 2024.
On site wastewater disposal installations remained
steady in 2023. Percolation tests are very demanding
lately and those are scheduled in advance, so the Health
Department urges everyone to call early for
appointments. In addition, anyone selling their home
should plan on obtaining the state required Title 5
inspection prior to listing the property so they have
adequate time to address any unforeseen problems with
their septic system.

For those that need financial assistance to replace their
failed septic, the Health Department can assist you
through the low-cost loan program. A total of 3
households received $78,886.25 in funding to upgrade
their septic systems through the DEP sponsored
betterment program. The number was very low this year
due needing a new approval from Mass DEP and Annual
Town Meeting. This approval was granted and we have
households already in line for 2025. If you know of
someone with a failed septic system and they need
assistance with the septic repair, please contact the
Health Department for more information.
