The Summer Program was successfully completed with
much and no injuries! We strive each year for safety first
and foremost. Nearly every week, we took the youth on a
field trip to keep the program fresh and fun. The
Buttonwood Zoo, Kingston Bowling Alley, and the
Plymouth Waterfront were all destinations. These trips
were innovative and are to be built upon. In 2025, we would
like to plan at least 1 trip a week!
The end of the summer also brought out the final summer
of Dylan Smith. Mr. Smith was our Rec. Director for two
years and worked at the park for over 5. Mr. Smith
graduated from Salem State University this year. We’d like
to wish him well in all his future endeavors and thank him
for his contribution to his town.
The fall is considered to be the best time of the year by
most. I concur. Not much is more fun than decorating for
the annual Ghost Drive. This year we hade more cars some
through than ever before. Word of mouth certainly travels!
Over 275 carved pumpkins led the way with 15-20
costumed Middleboro residents engaging in safe “jump
scares” and light hearted scares. People leaving made it
abundantly clear how grateful they were for a local
community event. We feel so lucky to be part of this!

Immediately following the Ghost Drive, the Park Dept.
benefiting local veterans and Park Dept. programs. Many
Park Dept. workers once again volunteered their time to
raise revenue for a good cause. Local residents Karen Blair
and Mac Sprague gave much of their time and resources to
help make this event possible. Ms. Blair worked tirelessly
through out the year, going to various car shows to
promote the season ending show at Battis Field. Over a
hundred cars arrived making it a good success. Mr. Patel of
Prada Hotels donated free t-shirts to the first 50 cars that
showed. We thank him for his gits and hope it is bigger
and better next year!
Ater the cleanup of the Ghost Drive and accomplishing
the car show, it was time to get decorating for the 3rd
annual Holiday of Lights at Battis Field. Decorating has to
be finished by Thanksgiving. Which is no small task. We
were able to two large great inlatables to the lineup: a 30
foot Santa and Grinch. They did not disappoint. Santa’s
sleigh and reindeer hung from telephone poles thanks to
the Middleboro G&E. It made seem that Santa had taken
of in light, being 30 feet suspended in the air!
