Ofice of the Town Clerk
Mission Statement
The mission of the Town Clerk’s Office is to provide
quality service to the community, to maintain and
produce records of the Town of Middleborough,
and to work collaboratively with various
departments, boards, committees and
commissions to achieve established goals and
comply with all federal, state and local statutes.

GENERAL POWERS & DUTIES
The Town Clerk is the Chief Election Oficial,
a Registrar of Voters, Burial Agent, Parking Clerk,
Municipal Hearings Oficer, Records Access Oficer and
Keeper of Records.
The Town Clerk’s Ofice records and certifies all
oficial actions of the Town including actions of
Town Meeting. In compliance with the Public
Records Law, our ofice allows access to and certifies
all public records in its custody.
THE YEAR IN REVIEW
The Town Clerk’s Ofice is responsible for the
compilation of the annual town census, maintenance of
town records and voter registrations, coordination and
administration of elections, and the issuance of
permits and licenses. Our department conducts all
federal, state and local elections. We maintain all
oficial vital records of births, deaths and marriages;
provide certified copies of all vital records and assist
with genealogical research. We issue marriage
licenses, burial permits, liquor licenses, entertainment
licenses, dealer licenses, business certificates,
certificates of registration for fuel storage, dog
licenses, rale permits, and Zoning by-laws/maps.
Our ofice is responsible for accepting and posting
all public meetings and updating the town
meeting calendar.
The Town Clerk’s Ofice was a whirlwind of a year in
2024! While the main focus of the ofice centered
around the four elections that were administered,
a common theme for 2024 was change and growth.
In March, we welcomed Tayla Bennett to our ofice
as she took on the role of Assistant Town Clerk.
Tayla came to Middleborough with a strong
background in public service, extensive municipal
experience, and a commitment to supporting
our community. She brings a fresh perspective and
a valuable skillset to the ofice.
