long-term project to permanently bind any loose
records into leather bound books. This year, we
were able to successfully bind marriage intentions
from 2010-2023, preserving the information for
years to come.
An additional Special Town Meeting convened on
October 7, 2024 in the Auditorium of the
Middleborough High School.
Community engagement is very important to the ofice.
The ofice proudly hosted the first ever “I Voted” sticker
contest. We gathered submissions from 3 age groups of
children, and one winner from each group was selected.
The winning designs were used to create stickers that
were then passed out in November for the Presidential
Election. The winning designs were created by Abigail
Wykof, Gianna Hayward, and Olivia Miller. The contest
was not only a lot of fun, but also a great way to include
the younger generation in such an important part of
democracy.
In August, we welcomed another new member to
our team. Samantha Rego joined the ofice,
bringing enthusiasm and dedication to the
profession with her. Her prior experience in a Town
Clerk’s ofice has proven to be invaluable and also
allowed her the ability to hit the ground running
during the height of a busy election season.
As the Keeper of the Records, the Town Clerk’s ofice
takes great pride in preserving the integrity of our
records for the benefit of future generations. This ofice
has custody of numerous permanent records that have
high historical value and importance to the residents of
the Town. With that in mind, we have initiated a
Continuing education and keeping current with
changing trends within the Town Clerk’s ofice is
important for the success of the ofice. As such,
Election Coordinator Laura Bamford, Assistant
Town Clerk Tayla Bennett and I attended
educational conferences sponsored by the
Massachusetts Town Clerk’s Association in the
summer and fall of 2024. We strive to continually
grow and learn, as this aids our never-ending efort
to improve our ofice.
