The Year in Review
2024 was an incredibly busy year with a lot of transitions in
the Town Clerk’s Ofice. The addition of the position of
Election Coordinator in 2023 to the Town of Middleborough
had an immediate impact on the ofice. Having one person to
oversee the details of the upcoming elections as well as
manage voter registrations, the annual census and
publishing of the Street List has improved overall
productivity.
A year with a Presidential Election brings more attention to
the work that is done in the Town Clerk’s Ofice. As always, we
are dedicated to providing exceptional services to the
community to the best of our ability.
The process of running elections begins well before Election
Day. The work began in 2023 by reserving polling locations
for the four election days, as well as In Person Early Voting,
organizing with police department, and reaching out to past
and protentional election workers to name a few.
The Presidential Primary was the first election in 2024. This
election consisted Vote by Mail ballots that were mailed out
the beginning of February. In Person Early Voting took place
from February 24 - March 1. Election Day was March 5, 2024
with the polls at all five polling locations opened from 7:00
AM – 8:00 PM. A total of 5,348 ballots were cast out of 19,896
registered voters for a turnout of 27%.
The Annual Town Election was conducted on April 6, 2024.
Polls were open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Voter participation
for the Annual Town Election was just under 5% with 997
total votes cast out of the 20,010 registered voters.
In-person early voting for the State Primary was available
from August 24 - August 30. The State Primary was held on
September 3, 2024. This vote represented 18.52% of the total
registered voters out of 19,375 eligible voters. The number of
