Halloween vs. Thanksgiving
There are many type of celebrations all around the world. The two most popular in
the United States are Halloween and Thanksgiving. Both share some similarities like
history, traditions and food.
In one hand, we have Halloween. The history of how Halloween began to be
celebrated is interesting. It started by being a ritual of the death, and when time passed by,
it became what it is now, a celebration filled with traditions.
One of these traditions is for kids and teenagers to visit houses and ask for candies,
the famous phrase, “trick or treat”. Eating all the candies the same night is what children
do, and for all the family there are turkey on the table ready to be eaten.
Similarly, Americans also celebrate thanksgiving. The celebration has an interesting
history too. All started when the pilgrims came to America and ate turkey with the natives.
Now, people still sit together to eat turkey and to say thank you. These celebrations are also
similar in their traditions. They still celebrate as their ancients did. Finally, the food are
similar too. They eat turkey and pumpkin pie.
As we can see these two celebrations are similar in various things, such as their rich
history, their traditions they have, and in the food they serve to all the people during these
celebrations.
