Measuring the length of objects
When measuring the length of an object, the ruler should be put parallel to the object and measured end-
to-end. The left end of the object should be lined up against the 0 mark.
For objects that are difficult to position perfectly parallel to the ruler, draw lines perpendicular to the object
on both ends. Then measure that distance between the lines.
