Lies are bad, but some lies are good. Think about this: Sally gives a birthday
present to you. It’s a comic book, Power Girl. You already have it. But you say,
“It looks funny. Thank you!” You tell a lie. Why?
Here is the answer. You are polite. You lie, but you care about your friend’s
feelings. That is a white lie. The white lie has good reasons. Everyone tells white
lies sometimes.
People also lie for bad reasons. These lies hurt people. Jake tells his mom, “I
am at the library.” But he is in the game room. He says, “I have no money. I
need money for new books.” But he has money. He only wants more!
You can sometimes lie. But don’t tell bad lies. Tell white lies!
