Type 5 -2 Color of the Hat
There are two yellow hats, two red hats, and three blue hats. Anna,
Thomas, Sarah, Joe, and Ryan each wore one hat without looking. The
rest of the hats were put in a drawer. The five students are standing in
line in the order of Anna, Thomas, Sarah, Joe, and Ryan. Each student
only knows the colors of the hats in front of him or her. Read the
conversation below and find the color of Ryan’s hat.
Anna: Thomas, do you know the color of your hat?
Thomas: No, I don’t. But I can see a yellow hat.
Anna: Then, Joe, do you know the color of your hat?
Joe: I can see yellow and red hats, but I don’t know the color
of my hat.
Anna: Ryan, do you know the color of your hat?
Ryan: I think I know.
