C USING SENSOR Y WORDS

Good writers use words to create pictures in the reader’s mind. These
words are called SENSORY WORDS. Readers need SENSORY WORDS to really
understand what you are writing.

You can use SENSORY WORDS to describe:

• How does it look? • How does it taste?

• How does it smell? • How does it sound?

• How does it feel?

EXAMPLE Look at the SENSORY WORDS to describe an orange.
