Making the greatest sum and the least sum
Let’s make a number sentence (2-digit) + (2-digit) with the greatest sum
and the least sum by using number chips.
Materials: Create Expression activity board,
1 Number chip set (1-9), Operation chip (+)
1 Prepare one Create Expression activity board, one number chip set
from 1 to 9, and one operation chip (+).
2 Shuffle all the number chips face down and place the operation chip on
the activity board as shown below.
3 Select one number chip and place it in the area of the board. Repeat
the step to place three chips in the area and make a number sentence
with the greatest sum. Note that you cannot replace the number chips.
I select 7.
I will place it in the
tens place because it is
a greater number.
