Materials: 2 Create Expression activity boards,
4 Number chip sets (1-9), 2 Operation chips ( )
Let’s make a number sentence (2-digit) + (2-digit) with a greater or less sum
than the other player.
Number 1. S huffle four number chip sets from 1 to 9 face down and place them in the
Battle middle of the table.
2. Each player places an operation chip (+) on the Create
Expression activity board as shown at the right.
3. Select one number chip and check the number without showing
it to the other player. Then place it face down in the area of
the activity board to make a number sentence with the greatest
sum. Note that the number chip cannot be replaced.
4. Place four number chips in each area and it is an option to
replace one number chip for each player.
5. Flip all the four number chips and find the sum to compare them. The player
who makes a greater sum wins.
6. Make a number sentence (2-digit) + (2-digit) with the least sum to play again.
