A SENTENCE T YPES
Using different kinds of sentences makes your writing more fluent and
rhythmic. There are three kinds of sentences you can use:
• SIMPLE STATEMENT (.)
• QUESTION (?)
• STRONG FEELING STATEMENT (!)
All the sentences begin with a capital letter and have different end marks.
EXAMPLE Look at the different SENTENCE TYPES and their end marks.
• My bicycle is red. Period
• Do you have a bicycle? Question Mark
• I just won a new bicycle! Exclamation Point
YOUR Read the sentences below. Then decide the type of each sentence.
TURN Write S for a simple statement, Q for a question, and F for a strong
feeling statement.
1.Happy birthday! 2. Where do you live?
3.What a beautiful day! 4. The library is closed today.
