The goal of PERSUASIVE WRITING is to convince people to agree with
you. We see it every day in TV commercials, billboards, newspapers, and
magazines. To make people take some kind of action:
• Start by telling your opinion.
• Then give reasons why you think this.
• Finally, tell them what they can do to help or change things.

I think the city should build a park near my neighborhood. There
isn’t anything for kids to do around here. Our neighborhood is no
fun at all without a park nearby. Kids have too much time to get in
trouble. Plus, everyone knows that kids need exercise to be healthy.
So call your city official today and ask for a park on the East Side!
