A desert is extremely dry and hot. It is a bad environment for living.
But animals and plants still live there. Kangaroo rats make caves
under the sand. So, they can escape the hot sun. They can also
change food into water inside their body. A cactus can keep water
in its stems and leaves. They don’t need much water. So, they can
survive!
