Assessment of Pressure

The pressure losses for distribution in the Georg Fischer piping system can be assessed by means of
the following chart or by means of the following formula:

Where:
pressure loss in a straight pipe (bar)
pipe friction factor (in most cases 0.02 is sufficient)
length of straight pipe (m)
density of transported media (kg/m³)
flow velocity (m/s)
inside diameter of pipe (mm)

Example:
Pipe: 40 X6.7 mm From the diagram,
Flow = 0.2 l/s Pressure loss
Water velocity = 0.4 m/s = 70 Pa/m
= 0.7 mbar
(10,000 Pa = 0.1 bar = 100 mbar)
