Social Media Musings – Part III My Reflections on the Practice and Life
Clients
Learn your clients’ core values.
Don’t guess what your client wants. Ask them. Work with them to define a win for them.
This post was prompted by a senior claims professional who follows me and asked me to remind us all that lawyers need to regularly, promptly, and thoroughly report to clients. Often lawyers work on matters and don’t keep the client abreast of what’s going on. Make it a habit to report to every client at least once a month even if it’s to tell her that nothing new is going on.
Litigation is a flurry of activity. Lawsuits are chaotic. Clients gravitate toward lawyers who remain calm. Clients hire lawyers who create calm in the midst of the storm.
Clients refer cases to those they trust, respect, like and with whom they have a relationship.
