Looking Back
FDCC’s 2020 Virtual CCS
Social Inflation and the Litigation that Follows
Social inflation can broadly be described
as the increase in the number and severity
of claims due to social and political factors. The social factors include excessive jury awards and the desensitization of juries (and judges) because of social media and the unfiltered and sometimes inaccurate reporting of case facts and results. This session explores the concepts and factors behind the
cultural shift and the issues driving the current risk and liability climate. Understanding the factors and the shift will allow general counsel to assess risk and defend claims.
By all accounts, the 2020 Corporate Counsel Symposium was a great success in providing our members and their guests with relevant content in a virtual environment.
