COURSE INTRODUCTION
Course Synopsis
This course offers theory and applications of the multimedia
application development process to the creation of computer-based
training. A review of the principles of instructional design and the
appropriate application of these principles to interactive computer-
based training will be conducted. There is also an exploration of
computer-based multimedia authoring and scripting tools to be used
for creation of various types of computer-based training projects.
The planning, design, production and evaluation of computer-based
training projects for delivery through a variety of media will
culminate the course of study.
Course aims
The broad aims of this course are to:
Recognize the importance of instructional design in computer-
based training (CBT)
Identify structured steps in instructional design activities,
models and CBT development
Utilise effective training methodologies for computer-based
training
Practice technically on instructional models of CBT and
computer implementations of the various instructional
methods described
Practice exercises tied to five basic instructional content types:
facts, concepts, processes, procedures, and principles
Specify the methodologies provide as a structured approach to
effective design and development of training materials
