 EVERYONE'S GAME CARNIVAL
The Everyone’s Game Carnival is a one day carnival that runs three times a year and aims to provide
individuals with an intellectual disability an opportunity to play basketball and develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Whilst it was unfortunate that due to Covid-19 the first two carnivals had to be cancelled, it gave BWA the opportunity to create an exciting new relationship with International Day of People with Disability. This relationship allowed players to enter the event free of charge, increasing the participation rate and overall success of this event. BWA is excited to continue to develop this relationship in future years.
AUSSIE HOOPS
Aussie Hoops is a national introductory program for five – ten year old’s. The program is designed to cater for all abilities and allows participants to reap rewards on and off the court. Skill development, enhanced self-esteem and social co-operation are just a few benefits participants receive within the structured environment of Aussie Hoops.
Continuing on with the success from 2019, the Aussie Program once again saw a 30% increase of participations across both the metro and regional areas of Western Australia. More than 4,600 of Western Australians youth participated in the national program.
Western Australia was the second top performing state in Australia for overall participants just 200 participants shy of being the top performing state for 2020. Great efforts by our centres at the end of the year saw WA achieve its top performing term to date with over 2,654 participants attending in term four.
In 2020 we welcomed two additional metropolitan centres, Lakeside and Hills Raiders. As well as an additional six regional centres; Esperance, Goomalling, Katanning, Lakeside, Mandurah, PCYC Bunbury and Pemberton.
Cockburn remained to be Western Australia’s largest Aussie Hoops centre with over 700 participants. Also worth a special mention is Warwick Senators, who had a 67% increase in participants from 2019.
In their first year, Mandurah had the largest number of participants from across any regional centre. With South West proving to love their Aussie Hoops with 7 centres operating within their region.
