BASKETBALL
GREAT SOUTHERN
What an action packed year for the Great Southern despite COVID-19. From Aussie Hoops booming, new athlete opportunities and brand new facilities. This has by far been the most successful year in the Great Southern and 2021 will be no different!
AUSSIE HOOPS
The Aussie Hoops Program has boomed in the Great Southern.
Albany (130) and Esperance (95) absolutely smashing records setting the region up for major success. Every Association in the region has a strong introductory program leading into there junior competition. The growth of basketball in the Great Southern is non-stop.
SCHOOLS
Unfortunately, COVID cancelled our School Slam Series which was schedule for late Term 1 however we were lucky enough to get the chance to run the Lower School Cup (Year 7-10) which had 28 teams. Six more then 2019.
This tournament had an overall champion in Denmark High School. This is a great tournament as we touch on a number of key areas including great competition standard, participation (multiple divisions) and talent identification. Over 50 school clinics were conducted throughout the region in the three terms possible.
