  BWA STATE AND COUNTRY CHAMPS
2020 might have been a challenging year, but back in November South West Regionals proved exactly how much people in South love their basketball!
Six Carnivals coordinated by South West Slammers saw over 300 games played, 1000 athletes compete and over 80 coaches and Officials volunteer their time. 11 local associations, as well as Albany and Pinjarra joined the competition. South West Regionals are always exciting competition and a great build up to BWA State and Country Champs.
The Great Southern again eclipsed its record sending over 40 teams in the country champs from all throughout the region. Seeing winners in Division 1, Division 2 and Divi- sion 3. Continued improvement in organisation at associ- ations has led to greater participation and great success on the court. State Champs also saw a record number
of teams with Albany having teams in every age group and Esperance also participating in two age groups. The region anticipates that more and more associations will be involved in state champs in 2021.
SPP, SCC, GREAT SOUTHERN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND
BWA STATE TITLES
The Great Southern continued in great southern despite COVID interruptions and was as successful as 2019. This program is crucial to the development of Great Southern athletes and is the key pathway to get exposed to the BWA State Performance Program and Southern Cross teams. From the GSDP 45 athletes’ trial across the SCC and SPP age groups with a record number 14 athletes being selected. Eight more then 2019.
This is one of the biggest success across all areas in the Great Southern. The Great Southern Development Program also led to more amazing opportunities sending four teams to the BWA state titles.
This opportunity was like nothing the Great Southern has had before. New uniforms presented by Damian Martin followed by a weekend of the best competition in the state. The plan in 2021 will be for Six teams to now be sent to the state titles.
