   HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
The Basketball WA High Performance Program continues to play an important role in the State in the education and training of athletes and coaches. The Basketball WA High Performance Department undertook a review against National and State outcomes which resulted in a revamped 2018-19 State Performance Program (SPP). Basketball WA also continued to operate Basketball Australia’s National Performance Program (NPP), with the focus to develop players who have the potential to represent Australia at the International level.

HIGH PERFORMANCE
STATE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
The State Performance Program identifies the State’s most talented athletes and creates an intensive training environment that will “develop and prepare young basketball athletes to represent WA” at an Australian Junior Championship. Basketball WA believes that the establishment of a direct pathway for athletes in the SPP into the State Team Program will improve the quality of State Team performance into the future. The 2021/22 SPP consisted of two camps involving both Country and Metro athletes, with the age groups separated in to U16’s and U18’s to accommodate the increase in scholarship holders. Regional athletes were also required to attend weekly/fortnightly sessions under the supervision of network coaches.
