  12 GIRLS WORLD BALL RELAY
         HIGH PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT
Basketball WA – Kimberley uses our 3x3 Streetball Program to provide the opportunity for players across the region to trial for selection to our High- Performance Development Program. In 2022 3x3 Streetball Programs were held at 10 sites across the Kimberley and 609 participants were evaluated for their High-Performance potential. 59 players were invited to join our High-Performance Development Program (East Kimberley Squad 19 athletes, West Kimberley Squad 40 athletes)
This year also we rebranded our High- Performance Development Uniforms to ensure that our regional catch cry of “Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it” was front and centre no matter where you looked. The messaging must have worked with three Kimberley athletes (Zimmarley Williams-Wilson, Marcellus Bear and Chris Hunter) being selected to the 2022 Basketball WA State Performance Program and two (Marcellus Bear and Chris Hunter) going on to Represent Western Australia at Australian National Championships.
2022 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WORLD CUP BALL RELAY
Basketball WA - Kimberley were provided with an amazing opportunity to participate in the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Ball Relay!! We took the official World Cup Ball across the Kimberley, where 12 young girls, who had been participating in our basketball programming, received the opportunity to sign a commemorative ball to be used at the World Cup in Sydney. The girls also had a chance to pick an iconic location in their community to film a video clip. In the clip they discussed what they love about playing basketball and they also got the chance to wish the Australian Opals good luck for the World Cup. The videos were used across social media and digital displays at the FIBA World Cup events giving our regions young female players the chance to shine on the world stage.
FAREWELL
After eight years of working to take the Kimberley’s love of basketball to the next level it’s time for Liz Muenchow Basketball WA – Regional Development Manager Kimberley to say Good-bye. “I have loved every moment of working with both the amazing people across the Kimberley Region & all the staff of BWA! We have achieved so much over the past eight years & without a doubt shown that living remotely does not have to be a barrier to chasing your basketball dreams!! Opportunities are now available across the Kimberley Region to jump on the Basketball Australia Pathway at the participation, development, emerging and High-Performance levels. We have seen multiple Kimberley based players represent WA at the national level though our work and thousands of kids from some of the most remote parts of our region are now participating in Aussie Hoops and 3x3 Streetball. The future is bright for basketball in the Kimberley and I feel so blessed to have played a part in making this happen. The Kimberley has had a profound impact on me – thank you for the incredible journey. Never forget Kimberley Mob...If you dream it and believe it you CAN achieve it!”
