THE HIGHLIGHT FOR ALL COUNTRY ASSOCIATIONS IS
THE COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS WEEKENDS WITH
RECORD NUMBERS.
In my first year as South West /Peel Regional Development managerthehighestprioritywasto“connect”associations with one another and re-establish a mutually respectful relationship of the Slammers (NBL1 and WABL) with all South West Associations.
As all committees/boards deal with the same issues and stresses, sharing these within our neighbourhood of associations, develops relationships and most answers can be found in conversation between associations and as important sharing what is going great and why is invaluable to others.
58 | BWA ANNUAL REPORT 2022
This has been a success shown thru the willingness to communicate with myself, association to association, pre-tournament games held for Representative teams to prep for tournaments between associations of the same experience. There also has been a notable willingness to offer feedback on regional situations that need addressing.
We have seen continued growth in numbers in all associations. The standouts out have been Dunsborough Club (part of BABA) with now over 70 teams, Margaret River Basketball Association has doubled in size over the past 2 years to know 700 plus members and Donnybrook where they have grown from 130 to over 300 players. Pinjarra also has seen a 25% increase in numbers.
