 SBL SPECIALITY ROUNDS
ANZAC ROUND
The SBL engaged with local RSL’s to pay tribute and remember the ANZAC’s during this very special round on the basketball calendar which included a minute of silence before each game.
HERITAGE ROUND
Heritage Round is an opportunity to celebrate the history of the SBL and its Clubs.
2019 saw clubs in replica retro jerseys, past player nights, old videos and photos flooding social media while the league put together an all-time statistical analysis.
REFEREES
With Sportspower on board as the SBL Referee Sponsor in 2019, it ensured the group was looking sharp and professionals on the court.
9 SBL referees were selected in the WNBL and NBL panels in 2019, while two referees, Craig Copes and Nico Fernandez were selected as officials on international Australia Boomers games.
Referee Coach coverage was at 90% across all metro games while SBL Technical Advisor, Geoff Schulz ensured education, reviewing and fitness were prioritised for the officials group.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS ROUND
A new concept in 2019, Mental Health Aware- ness Round promotes the importance of looking after your Mental Health and ending the stigma attached to the subject.
The engaging round saw all players and coach- es wearing blue arm bands during games to raise awareness.
All Coaches and Captains attended a mental health awareness workshop, giving them all the tools necessary to improve their own and their teams mental health.
