ALEXANDRIA — Join Newfound Lake Region Associa- tion (NLRA) Education & Out- reach Manager Mirka Zapletal for a relaxed autumn hike of Goose Pond and Little Sugar- loaf Mountain on November 3 at 10 am. First heading to Goose Pond and then Little Sugarloaf, hikers will be on the lookout for plant communities and the ani- mals that call them home, no- ticing how these species groups change with elevation, access to water, and other factors. The order of plant communities and how quickly they change through space can have impacts on hab- itats downstream, especially during rain events. Participants will get a sense of how support- ing water quality in the lake in- volves protecting areas upstream as well. Registration is required, and space is limited. Register online at NewfoundLake.org/ events or call (603) 744-8689.

By connecting the people of Newfound to the won- ders around them, NLRA works to inspire the next generation of stewards and fulfill the mission of protecting Newfound Lake and its watershed. Along with programs like Newfound Nature Station, NLRA maintains Grey Rocks Conservation Area in all seasons as a place for people and wildlife alike. It offers walking trails, a picnic area, fishing al- coves, and a non-motorized boat launch and is frequented by wild- life like loons, turtles, and bald eagles as well as people. This event will be held at Grey Rocks Con- servation Area at 178 N Shore Road, Hebron, NH on Novem- ber16and19from10amto12 pm. As the days get shorter and the weather colder, the outside world changes to reflect how local species respond to this yearly cycle. NLRA educators will send participants on a scav- enger hunt using multiple senses to explore how the ecosystem at Grey Rocks is changing through autumn. Participants will also
