The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew
February 2023
   By Brittany amalfi
Delaney Meyers-Petrov is ready to walk in between worlds, but is she prepared to find out what’s on the other side?
The Whispering Dark is a dark, atmospheric story that tells the story of a girl ready to be seen as anything but fragile. But what she finds might be scarier than anything she could have ever imagined.
Kelly Andrew delivers a cap- tivating story about Delaney Meyers-Petrov, a deaf girl who is tired of being seen as breakable. So when she gets the opportunity to go to a prestigious program at Godbole University to be trained to walk in between parallel worlds, she jumps at the chance. Only, the mysterious atmosphere of the university might have other plans for Ms. Meyers-Petrov. She soon encounters professors who won’t accommodate her disabil- ity, mysterious voices, and a pecu- liar upperclassman who just can’t seem to stay away from her.
Frank is an Italian-American who is best known for playing the recurring role of “Georgie the Bartender” in The Sopranos. Frank is also well known for his star role in The Godfathers of Comedy. Frank has starred in numerous movies, including No Reservations, Meet the Parents, Jonny Slade's Greatest Hits and Crooked Lines
Nationally known in more countries than Slovakia, San- torelli has been a headliner at some of the world’s most fa- mous comedy clubs, with ven- ues such as Catch a Rising Star, The Improv, and Caroline’s on Broadway. In additionto his ap- pearances on the big screen (he needs one); did you know that Frank Santorelli has appeared on over 21 television shows, besides, The Sopranos where he plays the lovable character of “Georgie, the Bartender.” Frank has also done commercial’s for some of our favorite products, Olive Gar- den, Coor’s Beer, and Mc Don- ald’s.
Four years ago Jody Sloane
took a “stand” bringing her act to venues throughout New England. She has been a three time contes- tant in the Boston Comedy Fes- tival and Finalist in the Funniest Comic in New Hampshire Con- test. Impishly perverse, her style is thoughtful, yet edgy; touching on age, divorce, and being raised by wolves. She’ll have you con- vinced that in the darkest corners of truth is comedy.
Rob Steen's act is fresh and al- ways different. He has a gift for working the crowd into his act and taking them on a ride into his off beat world!

Colton Price died when he was nine years old. But, after a twist of fate, he woke up several weeks later to encounter a color- ful, green-eyed little girl. So when that little girl coincidently comes back into his life 12 years later, Colton does what he can to stay away. But Colton quickly learns that he can’t seem to stay away from Delaney Meyers-Petrov.
There’s something about her and the darkness that seems to follow her.
So when a student turns up dead, Delaney and Colton’s ef- forts to stay away from each other are foiled as they form a reluctant alliance as the pair dive deeper into the university’s dark secrets.
A Paranormal Thriller Set in The Shadows
I can’t lie here. Kelly Andrew’s writing is not just good. It is phe- nomenal. Andrew has crafted a
beautifully vivid world that is set in the shadows and shows that one can find comfort in the dark. The prose was beautifully vivid, and the otherworldly setting set in the Boston landscape kept me captivated from the very first page. Andrew absolutely made the atmospheric setting a charac- ter in this novel, and it added to the story and Delaney’s journey.
Delaney Meyers-Petrov is a fantastic main character who doesn’t shy away from her curi- ous nature. Due to her being deaf, she is seen as fragile. Breakable. But this story depicts that she is the exact opposite. When dark events begin to occur on campus, Delaney might be scared, but that doesn’t stop her determina- tion to uncover what is going on. “Determined” is a good word to describe Ms. Meyers Petrov, and she is determined to figure out what is lurking in the shadows, especially when something in the shadows is calling to her.
The Whispering Dark is a dark, beautiful thriller, unlike anything I have ever read before. Kelly Andrew weaves dark elements, twisted secrets, and a slow-burn romance all into one story. This book will have you feeling every- thing all at once while peeking over your shoulder to ensure the shadows aren’t watching you.
Also, Colton Price has my heart. That is all.
